Parish Advisory Council
The task of the Parish Advisory Council is to help and support the Parish Priest in the running of the Parish. It consists of members of the Parish who are actively involved in the life of the Parish and can assist in practical and spiritual ways. The Council meets regularly to discuss various aspects of parish life such as ministry, evangelisation, outreach, social life, safeguarding and finance. Its members help the Parish Priest carry out pastoral and social projects on the one hand, and the maintenance of the church, hall, house and garden on the other. If you have any concerns about the parish or wish to share your gifts and expertise, then do contact one of the members of the PAC.

Prayer for Healing
Dear Lord Jesus, it is my will to surrender to you everything that I am and everything that I’m striving to be. I open the deepest recesses of my heart and invite your Holy Spirit to dwell inside of me. I offer you my life, heart, mind, body, soul, spirit, all my hopes, plans and dreams. I surrender to you my past, present and future problems, habits, character defects, attitudes, livelihood, resources, finances, medical coverage, occupation and all my relationships. I give you my health, physical appearance, disabilities, family, marriage, children and friendships. I ask you to take Lordship over every aspect of my life. I surrender to you all my hurt, pain, worry, doubt, fear and anxiety, and I ask you to wash me clean. I release everything into your compassionate care. Please speak to me clearly, Lord. Open my ears to hear your voice. Open my heart to commune with you more deeply. I want to feel your loving embrace. Open the doors that need to be opened and close the doors that need to be closed. Please set my feet upon the straight and narrow road that leads to everlasting life. Amen.

Safeguarding
Safeguarding lies at the very heart of the Gospel and of the life of the Church. Jesus taught his disciples that we should love one another as he has loved us, while St Paul reminds all Christians that we are Temples of the Holy Spirit and that our lives should reflect the call to holiness. The lives of all creatures are sacred, especially the lives of children, young people and adults at risk.
Every human being has a value and dignity which we as Catholics acknowledge as coming directly from God’s creation of human beings in his own image and likeness. This implies a duty to value all people and to support them and protect them from harm. In the Catholic Church this is demonstrated by the provision of carefully planned activities for children, young people and adults; supporting families under stress; caring for those hurt by abuse in the past; ministering to and managing those who have caused harm.
It is because of these varied ministries that we need to provide a safe environment for all, which promotes and supports their wellbeing. This will include carefully selecting and appointing those who work with children, young people or vulnerable adults and responding robustly where concerns arise.
All who work with children or adults at risk within the Parish must have a DBS check that has been completed and processed by the Archdiocese of Cardiff before anyone can function in a role which has contact with children or vulnerable adults.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, not just that of the few. We all need to play our part and keep people safe. All Church activity should provide a safe environment which promotes and supports the wellbeing of everyone and protects them from harm.
The Archdiocese of Cardiff has a zero-tolerance approach to all abuse.
The Parishes of St Joseph’s, Bromyard, and St Ethelbert’s, Leominster, have a full safeguarding policy in place, in accordance with Archdiocesan guidelines. If you would like any more information on our policies and processes, please don’t hesitate to contact your Safeguarding Representative.

God our Heavenly Father,
we praise You for every human person, the centre of Your Creation,
made in Your image and likeness, and called to eternal life with You.
Forgive all that we have done that is contrary to Your love for every person,
bless our efforts to protect the dignity of each and every one of your children,
especially those who are most vulnerable,
and to create an environment where everyone feels safe and cared for,
that we may treat all with love and compassion
in the way that Your Son showed us,
and so reflect Your love in the world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Mary, our Mother, pray for us.
